Wesley Ringers Handbell Director

Heather Stewart
Heather was born in Canton, Illinois and lived in Central and Southern Illinois until moving to Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1987. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School and attended Gay Street United Methodist Church regularly since 1994.
Music has been a large part of Heather's life. She began playing flute in 5th grade and continues to play occasionally for worship. In High School, she was part of the marching band, pep band and jazz band playing slide and valve trombone. She played flute and piccolo in concert band, symphonic band and orchestra. Music is definitely one of her happy places.
Heather has been active in her time at Gay Street by leading Sunday School, participating in Wesley Ringers, participating in Chancel Choir, and various other activities. She has participated in youth mission trips and a mission trip to Liberia in 2013. Heather also served as Youth Bell director from 2010 to 2022.
Heather holds a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University in Sociology and a Masters degree in Education from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She is a licensed Intervention Specialist and is employed by Fredericktown Elementary School in Fredericktown, Ohio.
In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her significant other, Mike and her three kids, Hannah, Cord and Chase. Recently, Cord and his wife, Katelynn welcomed a daughter into their family and Heather really enjoys grandma duties! Other interests include camping, exploring new places, reading, being creative and sports (Cleveland Guardians, Chicago Bears and of course the Buckeyes..O-H!)
It is an honor and pleasure to serve as Wesley Ringers Handbell Director!
