The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPR) has recommended, and the Church Council has approved, a change in the method of providing pastoral housing as part of the proposed 2027 pastoral compensation package. Beginning in 2027, Gay Street United Methodist Church will transition from providing a church-owned parsonage to providing the pastor with a housing allowance.

The proposed compensation package is slated for approval at the Charge Conference scheduled for October 18, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Sunbury UMC, with the District Superintendent presiding.

In conjunction with this recommendation, and subject to the approval of the District Superintendent and the Charge Conference, the Church Council has also approved the following resolution:

The Church Council of Gay Street United Methodist Church requests a special called Charge Conference on October 18, 2026, at 3:00 PM to consider and vote on the sale of the church-owned parsonage located at 25 Kester Drive, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, contingent upon the approval of the pastor’s 2027 compensation package, including the approved housing allowance.
